A garage structure can be removed while the old concrete base still limits what you can do with the space. GarageDemolition can include slab breaking and removal when you want the area cleared for a new garage, garden, patio or other property improvement. Slab removal can be discussed alongside demolition or as its own enquiry.
The visible slab does not reveal every detail below the surface. Thickness, reinforcement, thickened edges and connections to other concrete can affect the work. Send approximate dimensions and photos, and identify which driveway, walkway or adjoining surfaces must remain.
The slab area and retained concrete edges identified before breaking begins.
Removal methods and material handling reviewed against the available equipment and loading access.
Footings, foundations, embedded materials and deeper excavation listed separately where they form part of the project.
Tell us about gate widths, driveway space and the path between the slab and loading area. Identify known buried services and confirm the responsibilities for locating them before concrete is disturbed. The removal plan should also account for nearby foundations and surfaces that must remain intact.
Removing concrete exposes the ground below; it does not automatically create a finished landscape or replacement foundation. Agree on whether the quote includes rubble collection, excavation, fill or grading. The contractor responsible for the next project should confirm the preparation they require.
Explain the next use of the space and who takes over after removal. If the site conditions differ from the information supplied, the additional work should be reviewed before the scope expands.
Garage size is one part of the quote. Construction materials, the removal boundary and the route for moving debris also matter. A small garage with difficult access can need a different plan from a larger structure beside an open driveway.
Share photos and approximate measurements with your enquiry. The price, work scope and start date are confirmed after the project details are reviewed.
Confirm the responsibilities for municipal approvals, utility disconnections and any necessary structural or material assessment before scheduling. Identify what remains on the property and give the incoming contractor a clear description of the expected handoff.
For Toronto projects, consult the City’s building permit guidance. Elsewhere, confirm requirements with the building department responsible for the property. Suspected asbestos-containing materials should be assessed before disturbance; see Ontario’s guidance for demolition and repair work.
Yes. Provide slab dimensions, photos, access details and the required finish condition. The existing concrete and site are reviewed before the removal scope is confirmed.
Footing removal is a separate scope item. Identify known foundations and the depth required for your next project so the quote covers the intended work.
Mark the retained surfaces and discuss the separation boundary before work starts. Existing joints, reinforcement and hidden connections may affect the method.
Remove an old or unwanted garage with a clear teardown plan, defined protection measures and an agreed cleanup scope.
